Welcome to our first newsletter of 2019. We wish all of our clients, colleagues, and friends the very best for the year ahead!

In this edition of the newsletter, Justin Seitz provides some important advice on “How To Blow Your Online Cover with URL Previews”. In this article, Justin explains how a simple and common mistake could reveal an investigator’s network connection, possibly alerting a subject to the fact that they are under investigation.

Also in this newsletter, we are pleased to provide links to some of the many online investigative and security tools we have been exploring and using lately, and just a few of the OSINT-related articles we have found of particular interest.

With a busy year ahead, we are pleased to welcome the newest member of the TII team, Sabreen Dhaliwal. Sabreen comes to us as a graduate of the University of Fraser Valley’s Criminology program and will serve as Office Manager at our Vancouver Headquarters. Sabreen will be providing daily support for our domestic and international operations, including the ongoing development of our growing inventory of e-learning programs.

We are excited to announce the launch of our brand new classroom course, Investigating Insurance Fraud Online, and the relaunch of our updated Social Media Intelligence & Investigation training, scheduled for the first quarter of 2019 in Vancouver, BC, and Toronto, ON.

In the world of OSINT and investigations, social media is a rich source of intelligence, and we are always looking for new ways to leverage the invaluable insight we can gain from the countless social platforms that are prolifically used everyday. With the summer (almost) behind us and the fall just around the corner, our team has been busy prepping for another global training tour, and the launch of three brand new classroom courses, which we will be formally announcing here soon.

Yaniv Pereyaslavsky Appointed as TII Associate

Yaniv Pereyaslavsky is Toddington International’s London, UK-based associate, and is responsible for the delivery and development of advanced training programs for global audiences, in addition to the provision of consulting services to select clientele.

Prior to joining Toddington International, Yaniv gained extensive experience in Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) roles in both the public and private sectors. In addition to serving as a reconnaissance soldier and officer with the Canadian military for six years, Yaniv also served within the Canadian federal government, working on reporting, intelligence, and security surrounding consular missions and soft-power diplomacy in Africa, South America, and the world at large.Within the private sector, Yaniv has extensive experience in both corporate intelligence and strategic planning in advanced technology industries. With a strong background in surveillance technologies, machine learning, and cybersecurity, he was responsible for intelligence reporting contributing to multi-million dollar projects for key stakeholders. Yaniv’s work in the high technology sector has included complex open source investigations, information operations, government relations, and the overseeing of comprehensive competitive intelligence products.Yaniv studied Security and Strategy at the University of British Columbia and the University of Copenhagen. He is certified in Advanced Cybersecurity and Field Security by the United Nations, and is a certified Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professional (SCIP).

Welcome to the May 2018 edition of TII’s Online Intelligence Newsletter. A lot has been happening at TII these past two months, including the development of a brand new two-day training program.

“Critical Thinking for Investigators” is an intensive two-day classroom-based workshop designed to help investigators and intelligence professionals avoid making incorrect assumptions by using logic, reasoning, critical thinking, and scientific methodology in their investigations. Attendees will acquire skills required to turn online data into meaningful, actionable intelligence. All too often, mission critical investigations fail because those involved jump to conclusions and draw faulty inferences that leave the trail cold. Correct conclusions are not the result of guessing, but by applying efficient thought processes. Currently being offered on an in-house basis, this program will be publicly available in the Fall of 2018.

Welcome to the February 2018 edition of TII’s Online Intelligence Newsletter.

With the new year now in full swing, we were pleased to see the successful launch of our brand new Cyberpsychology & Threat Intelligence training series with Forensic Psychiatrist, Dr. Cynthia Baxter last month.

The next few months will be incredibly busy for the TII team, with both public and in-house training events scheduled in Canada, the UAE, SE Asia, and Australia. We’re especially excited to launch our new Introduction to the Blockchain Revolution course in Dubai in March.

In this edition of the newsletter, Howard Clarke, the facilitator of TII’s Intelligence Analysis e-Learning training programs, shares his article “What’s the Problem? The Importance of Clearly Defining Research and Investigative Goals”, highlighting the importance of fully understanding the “problem” at hand when conducting investigative and intelligence work, focusing on the critical dimensions of planning prior to engaging in data collection and intelligence research.

Welcome to the January 2018 edition of TII’s Online Intelligence Newsletter – from all of us here at Toddington International Inc., we wish you a very Happy New Year!

We are pleased to welcome Julie Tillotson as the newest member of the TII team. With over two decades service within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Julie began her career as an Intelligence Analyst in 2002.

Continuing to maintain operational expertise in complex criminal investigations that includes serial murder, missing persons, financial and organized crime on a strategic and tactical level, Julie is also experienced in the delivery of services to the private sector including critical thinking and investigative techniques, corporate intelligence, brand protection and online reputation management.

While working towards her PhD, Julie taught Criminology and Sociology at the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. She has also taught Tactical Intelligence Analysis and Strategic Intelligence Analysis at the Canadian Police College, and has delivered Operational Intelligence Analysis training in South Asia on behalf of the Canadian Government.

Among other commendations, Julie has been awarded the Intelligence Program Professional Service Award for her contributions to the national intelligence program in the RCMP, and is a regular guest speaker at numerous private and public sector conferences throughout North America.
